Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
